Sculptural Art Jewelry Techniques with Gail Stouffer
September 12 @ 9:00 am - September 13 @ 5:00 pm$200
One-of-a-kind art jewelry is unique and reflects the unconventional taste of the wearer. The allure of hand wrought silver and artisan made glass pieces together is a hard to beat combination.
In this workshop students will experience the excitement of creating and sculpting their own 2-sided reversible glass pieces, and then using traditional and alternative metalsmithing techniques, they’ll create and develop 2-sided reversible sterling silver settings for those pieces. Each piece created will be original and uniquely their own creation.
In this workshop, students will learn kiln formed glass techniques as well as the necessary cold working, sanding, and carving methods to turn their glass, clay, or found object pieces into faceted sculptural gems.
Additionally, students will work with Sterling silver precious metal clay 960 to create findings for their “jewels.” Metalsmithing techniques we’ll explore will include: cold connections, tube and standard rivets, bail construction, annealing, and soldering.
Some jewelry experience is necessary to participate, but advanced skills are not required to be successful!
